Karen Rockwell is an 18 year employee of the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, working at the Coquitlam Claim Centre as a bodily injury adjuster.
She has spent many years volunteering as a labour educator for the Canadian Labour Congress, the Girl Guides of Canada and Minor Softball Associations.
A past vice-president in her Union and Employee Member of the Labour Relations Board of British Columbia, Karen is highly experienced in labour relations, negotiation and conflict resolution.
First elected to City Council in 2002, Karen has served on many committees and commissions, including the Parks & Recreation Commission, Heritage Commission, Community Care, Finance, Land Use and Economic Tourism and Arts Development Committees. She has also served as the alternate to the GVRD Board and as Port Moody’s representative to the Lower Mainland Treaty Advisory Committee, the Joint Youth and Family Court Committee and to the Fraser Burrard Youth Justice Society.
Karen and her partner Geoff reside in Pleasantside, where they enjoy gardening, walking Port Moody’s many trails and reading. With both of their children grown, they also enjoy traveling.
