Elected for a third term, Port Moody's mayor, Joe Trasolini, had three years of Council experience behind him when he took over the mayor's chair in December of 1999. A tireless supporter of the environment, Joe advocates economic development and balanced growth, while remaining committed to preserving the natural environment. He has chaired both the City's Environmental Protection and Economic Development Committees.
As mayor, he chairs the Police Board and the Emergency Measures Policy & Planning Committee and co-chairs the Canadian Pacific Railway Community Advisory Panel. He represents Port Moody on the Metro Vancouver Board of Directors; Land Use and Transportation Committee, Committee of Metro Vancouver Mayors and Intergovernmental Committee. He chairs the Metro Vancouver Environmental Committee and Environmentally Sensitive Areas Sub-Committee. Also, he is a director on the E-COMM Board, and Director at Large on the TransLink Board.
Joe believes strongly in empowering youth and encouraging them to have a voice in their community. He is known for inviting groups of school children and youth into his office for impromptu question & answer and problem solving sessions. He has been active in Big Brothers and has coached minor soccer and baseball teams for many years.
Along with his mayoralty responsibilities, Joe is CEO of Pug Investments, Ltd. He is a graduate of BCIT's Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering Technology program and a member of the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of B.C. His work experience includes 10 years with Environment Canada in Environmental Protection Services.
Joe has resided in Port Moody since 1994 and now lives in Pleasantside.
