Port Moody’s Inlet Theatre is now the proud owner of a professional quality digital video projector, thanks to generous donations by the Port Moody Film Society and the Port Moody Foundation.
The Port Moody Film Society, a major benefactor of the projector, raised $20,000 in donations for the equipment. The society holds regular monthly film nights at the theatre and hosts the annual Port Moody Canadian Film Festival.
"The community has really embraced our vision to present film in Port Moody," said film society president Ingrid Nystrom. "The hard work of our members, volunteers and board, as well as the support of the city, helped make this happen."

Port Moody Film Society president Ingrid Nystrom and treasurer Don Bullock present mayor Joe Trasolini with a cheque for $20,000.
Port Moody Foundation donated $5,000 towards the projector. The funds mark the end of the Legacy Capital Campaign which began over ten years ago to raise funds for the Civic Centre. This final contribution is the result of the sales of the remaining theatre seats at Inlet Theatre. The foundation, together with its many corporate and private donors, have raised tens of thousands of dollars to fund projects such as the outfitting of the Parklane Room & computer desks for the library, the furnishings for the Galleria Bistro and technology such as the hearing assist capability and new sound and lighting equipment in the theatre.
The cheques were presented at the March 28, 2006 regular council meeting by Nystrom and film society treasurer Don Bullock; and foundation president Ron Curties.
The projector allows Inlet Theatre to continue to promote its niche as a centre of excellence for film presentations. Monthly films together with an annual film festival and many special film nights including silent films during Heritage Week will all benefit from the improved technology. The next film night will be a screening of The Merchant of Venice on April 13 at 7:30 p.m.
