Docked PCT ship releasing dust into Burrard Inlet The City of Port Moody has received a number of complaints about a docked Pacific Coast Terminals (PCT) ship in the Burrard Inlet that has been raining dust over the area and affecting air quality in Port Moody. The City has no jurisdiction over the matter, and is not in a position to take any direct action other than advising PCT. In addition to alerting PCT about the issue, the City contacted Metro Vancouver and Port Metro Vancouver with their concerns.

Province prohibits campfires across coastal region Effective noon on Friday, July 23, all open burning, including campfires and fireworks, will be prohibited across the Coastal Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety. This ban applies to open fires of any size, campfires, fireworks, tiki torches and burning barrels. The ban does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, or to portable campfire apparatus with a CSA or ULC rating using briquettes, liquid or gaseous fuel, that are not capable of producing a flame longer than 15 centimetres. Portable campfire apparatus that do not meet these conditions are prohibited.

Public Hearing Notice for Official Community Plan The Council of the City of Port Moody will meet and hold a Public Hearing to consider the following proposed Bylaw. 1. Proposed Bylaw: City of Port Moody Official Community Plan Bylaw, 2010, No. 2849. Applicant: City of Port Moody Purpose: To adopt a new Official Community Plan for the City of Port Moody. The proposed Official Community Plan (OCP) is the result of a series of public consultation events and Council meetings that have taken place since the OCP update process began.

Port Moody Council seeks legal opinion on taking back Murray-Clarke Connector Port Moody Council is frustrated with failed promises and lack of progress on the Murray- Clarke Connector. The Murray-Clarke Connector is a major route that serves the entire region beyond the Tri-Cities. In 1983 the province recognized the need to widen the route to four lanes to accommodate increasing volumes of regional traffic.

Land Use Committee Notice Purpose: The owner has applied to enter into an agreement with the city to vary use and density. If approved, the application would conserve the existing heritage dwelling on the property and allow a heritage house with a secondary suite to be relocated to the rear yard of the subject property.

Port Moody partners with Metro Vancouver to assess curbside food scrap recycling The City of Port Moody is partnering with Metro Vancouver in a pilot project to measure how food is being recycled. Residents in one Heritage Mountain neighbourhood, within the Wednesday collection zone, were selected to participate in the pilot project and survey which begins the week of January 11, 2010.
