The City of Port Moody has had its own police department since 1913.  The Department is composed of 41 uniformed members and 13 civilian members who each demonstrate a strong commitment to our community.  The Department motto is "no call too small" and this philosophy is reflected in an average response time of less than four minutes to calls for service.  The community is proud of their enviable low crime rate and attributes this low rate to the cooperative relationship between the Police Department and the citizens of the City.

The Port Moody Police Department is situated at 3051 St. Johns Street.  The following volunteer programs are run out of the police department:

  • Block Watch
  • Crime Watch
  • Speed Watch
  • Stolen Auto Recovery Program

MEDIA LIAISON SECTION

Welcome to the Port Moody Police Department’s Media Liaison Section. Our police department is dedicated to keeping you informed on topics of public interest and what we are undertaking to maintain a safe City.

Our Media Liaison Officer plays a key role within the Port Moody Police Department in terms of building and maintaining the public’s understanding and support of our police department.  The Department’s goal is to provide timely and accurate information to the public, via the media.

To achieve this goal, our Media Liaison Officer fosters cooperation and mutual respect between the media outlet and the Port Moody Police Department.

Our current Media Liaison Officer is Constable Bill Kim.  It is his responsibility to keep the public informed as to the Department’s activities and concerns which may arise.  The Media Liaison Officer will endeavour to assist the media in completing the task of gathering information and reporting on new events impacting residents and visitors to the City of Port Moody.  The public’s perception and image of the Port Moody Police Department is largely dependent on the hard work of our Media Liaison Officer.
