The Operations Division of Engineering, Parks & Operations Department is responsible for the "hidden" services that we have all come to rely on as part of our daily lives.
Among the many services the City provides, the Operations Division of Engineering, Parks & Operations Department is responsible for the "hidden" services that we have all come to rely on as part of our daily lives, whether at work or play. Otherwise referred to as the City's infrastructure, these services include:
- Ensuring that we have clean and safe water, which is supplied through underground pipes.
- Maintaining a separate system of underground pipes to collect the sewer or waste water for proper treatment prior to discharging it to the environment.
- Providing and maintaining the City's roads, sidewalks, streetlights, signage and lane markings.
- Providing other key services including street cleaning and the coordination of the gabage pickup and recycling services.

Watermain Flushing
The City of Port Moody will be performing uni-directional watermain cleaning in the areas shown on the map now through late June inclusive.
This procedure will cause pressure fluctuations, some discolouration and sediment in the water reaching your home or business. These conditions should be of short duration and will not pose a health hazard.
If your water appears discoloured, run a cold water tap until the water clears. City staff will try to minimize any inconvenience.
For more information, call Operations at 604-469-4574.
Utility work will take place now until late June
The City of Port Moody will be replacing watermains serving homes on Garrow and Foress Drives in the Glenayre area now through late June. This work is part of our ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure throughout the city.

Road access may be periodically disrupted during work hours, but will be restored at the end of the work day. The contractor will try to keep these disruptions to a minimum. Water service will not be affected during the watermain replacement work.

Street Lights
The City of Port Moody and BC Hydro have teamed up for a new program to maintain street lights in a faster and more efficient manner. The Street Light Information Management (SLIM) program is designed to streamline the process for reporting and repairing street lights.
The two-pronged system involves a designated phone line at the City of Port Moody coupled with a special BC Hydro website accessible to city staff for identifying locations of services calls. The website allows city staff to quickly determine whether BC Hydro or the city owns the downed light. If the light is owned by BC Hydro, city staff can schedule a repair through the website. If the city owns the lamp, the repair can be dealt with at the local level.
The benefits of SLIM include a shorter turn-around-time to repair the street lights as well as the ability for city staff to monitor the progress of a repair on-line.
The Port Moody phone number to report downed lights is 604-469-4574.
