Between June 1 and September 30, lawn sprinkling restrictions are in effect. Sprinkling is restricted to 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. & 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.  two days per week:

  • Even numbered houses on Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Odd numbered houses on Thursdays and Sundays

Sprinkling restrictions do not affect vegetable and flower garden watering. You may water your garden as often as needed, but use a watering can or a hose with a spring-loaded, shut-off nozzle to reduce water waste.

These restrictions are crucial to managing the demand for drinking water during the summer period, and are Stage 2 of the region's Water Shortage Response Plan. As set out in that Plan, the GVRD will be placing advertisements to remind the public of the sprinkling restrictions.

It may be necessary to restrict watering during long, dry periods. Details will be available here, as well as through various media sources.

Residents with a new lawn can purchase a 21 day permit at the planning counter for $35 which allows unlimited sprinkling.
