The City of Port Moody Environmental Award recognizes environmental initiatives and encourages environmental accomplishments and awareness in the community.
Who Can Be Nominated?
The project or initiative must take place in Port Moody and can be initiated by an individual citizen or one of the following groups:
- Individual or group
- Non profit/charitable organization
(i.e. church, service group, community group, environmental group)
- Port Moody School
- Business
- Corporation
- Developer
- Industry
The nominee does not need to be a Port Moody resident as long as the project takes place in Port Moody.
What Is The Criteria?I
In order to be eligible the nominee must agree to participate. Nominees will be judged based on their ability to meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Ecological Initiative
- Habitat Enhancement
- Naturescape Program
- Educational Feature
- Volunteer Component
- Pesticide-free Lawn or Garden
- Sustainability Initiative*
- Integrated Storm-water management*
How Will This Be Judged?
The judging panel will consist of the City of Port Moody Environmental Committee members who will make a recommendation to Council for final approval.
When Will This Happen?
Nomination forms can be obtained at City Hall, the Library or on-line at www.cityofportmoody.com. Nominations can be submitted on-line, fax (604-469-4530) or in person to City Hall c/o the Environmental Awards Program.
Deadline for submissions is September 30 each year.
All eligible nominees will be contacted for their permission to participate in this event.
One winner will be selected and presented with an attractive desk award at a Council meeting. Winners will be recognized on a permanent plaque at City Hall. An Honourable Mention certificate will be awarded to the runner-up.
