Nomination Form
Nominations must be received by October 16th of each year. Should October 16th fall on a public holiday or on a weekend, submissions should be received on the following workday.

Eligibility

  • Nominations must be for work completed in the City of Port Moody; 
  • Nominations must be for work that has not previously received a Port Moody Heritage Award (work on heritage buildings and/or sites may consist of many projects/stages that may be eligible individually or collectively); 
  • The jury reserves the right to not give awards in one or any of the categories.

Nominations From Anyone Are Accepted For:

  • Restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive re-use or continued maintenance of a heritage building, a significant interior of a heritage building, or characteristic features of a heritage building, or a heritage landscape/site;
  • Heritage advocacy of a group or individual;
  • Efforts in community or neighbourhood revitalization;
  • Education material, publications, or exhibits.

Submission Requirements

Provide a brief summary (maximum of one page) describing the role of the nominees and the contribution of the project to heritage conservation in the City. The summary should describe the details of the work and why the outcome has been significant to heritage conservation in Port Moody.  All nominations must include:

  • names, addresses and telephone numbers of the owner (if applicable)
  • a list of all major participants (for community groups) 
  • before photos (if available) and after photos showing the work (if applicable)

The nominee, where applicable, shall agree to his/her nomination and publicity by signing the waiver at the bottom of the nomination form.

Projects: Building, Interior or Landscape
Project summary should include a thorough description of heritage conservation aspects of the project. Relevant details should be included. Comparative illustrations or photos clearly indicating before  (if available) and after should be included.

Individuals, Community Groups, Neighbourhood or Business Associations, and Other Organizations
Include pertinent information, names of participants, any media coverage, and photographs.  The summary should include a detailed description of the individual or group's activities and how this has promoted heritage conservation.

Publications, Education Material, or Exhibits
A copy of the publication, program or exhibit material must be submitted in addition to the detailed one-page summary outlining how the project has increased public awareness of heritage issues.

Submission Deadline:  Nominations must be submitted on the nomination form that can be obtained at City Hall or the Library, or online at www.cityofportmoody.com.  All submission materials must be received no later than 4:30p.m. by October 16th of each year by the Planning and Development Services Department, City Hall, 100 Newport Drive, Box 36, Port Moody, BC, V3H 3E1.  Should October 16th fall on a public holiday or on a weekend, submissions should be received on the following workday.  Successful submissions will be retained by the City for publicity purposes; others will be returned.

Incomplete submissions will be ineligible for consideration by the jury.

Judging Panel
The judging panel will be composed of members of the Port Moody Heritage Commission and 1 optional guest juror who will make a recommendation to Council for approval. All decisions of the judging panel and Council are final. Members of the judging panel will not enter into correspondence or other dialogue with nominees before, during or after the decision process. Judging will take place at an in-camera meeting of the Commission.

Award Presentation
Recipients will be presented with awards at a community event in February during British Columbia Heritage Week, if possible.  Recipients will also be recognized on plaques displayed in the Galleria at City Hall and on the heritage buildings or sites.  All nominees and nominators will be contacted regarding the date and time of the awards presentation.
