Port Moody has a wealth of beautiful park space for everyone to enjoy.

Port Moody has a wealth of beautiful park space for everyone to enjoy. From mountainside natural forested parks to popular waterfront recreation areas, Port Moody has it all.

Most parks have ample parking nearby. Dog owners are reminded that, with the exception of our 4 off-leash and dog run areas, dogs must be leashed and in control of their owners. Dog waste must be picked up and disposed of properly.

So take an afternoon or an hour and enjoy some of Port Moody's most beautiful parks!

Off-Leash Dog Areas

The following two unfenced, natural areas have been designated in the City as 'off leash' areas where dogs are allowed off leash:
  • South end of Hugh Street (behind the 7-11)
  • East/West connector right of way – Wide trail leading west from Heritage Mtn Blvd & David Avenue.
  • North end of Westhill Park
  • A fenced dog run is also located at Rocky Point Park, adjacent to Slaughterhouse Creek (can be accessed from Murray Street).
    • All dogs using these areas are to be under the verbal control of their handlers.
    • All dog handlers are responsible for clean-up of any dog waste created by their dog. Those who do not are subject to the appropriate penalties as detailed in Bylaw No. 1098 and Bylaw No. 1050.

Bicycle Paths

The City of Port Moody has a number of on- and off-road bicycle routes. You can view the Metro Vancouver bicycle route maps here. Port Moody's Master Transportation Plan, which includes recommendations for bicycle lanes, routes and paths in the city is also available.

Please note: There are rules and regulations governing the use of Parks and community facilities. For detailed information, please read the updated "City of Port Moody Parks and Community Facilities Rules and Regulations Bylaw No. 2721"

Permission for Use

Parks/Picnic Shelters

Groups of 50 or more are required to request written permission to hold events or gatherings in Port Moody parks or picnic shelters. Please send a written letter by mail or fax to the City of Port Moody Parks Division with the following information:

  •   Date and time requested (consent is only given for a four hour period)
  •   Area/space you wish to use
  •   Name of group
  •   Type of event (i.e. company picnic, family reunion, sports event, etc.)
  •   Number expected at the event
  •   Contact name
  •   Contact phone number

The parks manager will review requests and issue written permission if the request is approved. Permission does not guarantee exclusive use of a specific space, area, or picnic shelter.  If the area you wish to use is being used by other park users, it is requested you find a suitable alternate spot.

Due to space and resources, only one user group per day will be given consent to use a park area or picnic shelters. Holding a space for use later in the day is not permitted.

Please adhere to the posted parking regulations and restrictions.  If you are attending with a large group, please plan to car pool as parking is limited.

For further information, please call 604-469-4676
